OUR VALUES

volunteer with us

We would be delighted to have you join our team. Please fill out this short sign up form so that we can contact you to discuss options.

Community

We exist to bring together and celebrate the diverse community of Northampton through practical action and inspiring activities. We aim to provide a place where everyone can help to build community cohesion and transform our town.

Environment

We believe that our environment is the world we live in and the consciousness of those that live in it. We promote a sustainable and responsible way of living in balance with the environment and believe that small changes locally bring about big changes globally.

Equality

In promoting equality, we respect the rights of all beings. We will recognise disadvantage and ensure equality of opportunity and pay to enable each individual to freely contribute to our vision.

Co-operative

We are a co-operative of like-minded people who work together to strengthen our community and the bonds between individuals in our community. We strive to reach decisions by consensus wherever possible.

Campaigning

We are committed to improving social and environmental conditions through practical action and leading by example. We are a peaceful organisation that is non-party political and religiously neutral.

Our community is organised by an amazing group of volunteers who share these values. If you share these same values, why not join the team?

supported volunteering

We also offer a number of supported volunteering opportunities for those who require some extra guidance.

  • Shumi

    SEND Parent and Umbrella volunteer

“After lockdown ended I wanted to get my confidence up and find my place in the world.

Umbrella has been a great collective to be involved with as their ethos of social justice and inclusive approaches makes me feel valued and accepted.“

  • Dave

    Local Handyman and Sculptor

“I love the action hub’s convening role. I’ve learned so much from members of other environmental groups in the Climate Cafe evenings.”

Climate Cafe meets fortnightly on wednesday evenings. See here for details.

  • Daniel

    Daniel

Daniel started volunteering with us in 2023 after we took on some raised beds on the Racecourse Community Garden plot in the centre of the park.

”I really love volunteering at the Umbrella Pavilion because I know that my involvement is making a difference. We need to do everything we can to encourage people to take action on climate issues.”
